Welcome to Eating Disorders Support!!

OUR MISSION

Eating Disorders Support is a website designed to give you hope and encouragement if you or someone you know or love has anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, or an overeating disorder.

The mission of Eating Disorders Support is fourfold:

(1) to provide you with information regarding the etiology and treatment of eating disorders,

(2) to encourage you if you have an eating disorder as you face the challenges of recovery,

(3) to provide a safe place for you to ask questions about how to find help,

(4) to provide resources that may help you in the journey toward health and freedom from eating disorder behaviors.

So, we invite you to browse our website. If you have any question about eating disorders or recovery, please e-mail us at help@eatingdisorderssupport.com.

OPEN GROUP INFORMATION!!

If you have had an eating disorder for a year or more and would like to work on some of the more complex, challenging issues common to people who have lived with an eating disorder for awhile, this group is designed for you.  If you are feeling discouraged about the recovery process, this group is designed to give you hope.

The open group is more than a support group because there will be opportunities to discuss and address emotional issues, but less intense than a therapy group because the members vary from week to week.  People who are new to the group are welcome and will be oriented to how the group works and expected to follow along with the group process until they catch up.

The focus of the group is personal growth issues.  Sharing of eating disorder behaviors tends to foster competition and regression so will not be tolerated.

The fee for the group is $25.00.  Payment (check or cash) is required before the group starts.  Insurance will not be billed for this group as it cannot be billed as group psychotherapy.

The group meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 PM in The Globe Building, 9725 SE 36th St, #301, Mercer Island, WA 98040.  Call 206-232-8404 for more information.

RADIO SHOW NEWS!!  Dr. Kim Lampson was recently interviewed on Health Talk. The topic was Dissociative Identity Disorder.  An earlier show was on Eating Disorders. In both shows, there is a person in recovery who is interviewed along with Dr. Lampson.  Replays in which you can listen to the whole show can be found at http://www.patientpower.info/rCategories.asp?ID=Disassociative%20Identity%20DisorderSome people have both diagnoses.

THE HOPELINE

Click on the heart  to read TRIUMPH, the inspirational poem about recovery from an eating disorder.

About twenty years ago, Kim Lampson facilitated a support group for people with eating disorders and their families. The group met every two weeks and the people attending wanted there to be some connection in between times.  In response, Kim began writing a newsletter to give hope and encouragement to the people in recovery and their families.
