ISLAND COUNSELING

Island counseling is an outpatient treatment mini-center. Located in Mercer Island, Washington, Island Counseling provides individual, family, marital, and group therapy for many people. However, approximately 85% of the people who come here for help present with an eating disorder due to the reputations of Dr. Kim and Dan Reiff as eating disorder specialists. Since eating disorder behaviors are symptoms of other things, we see people with many other diagnoses as well including:

	major depressive disorder,
	dysthymia,
	dissociative identity disorder,
	post-traumatic stress disorder,
	bipolar disorder,
	and anxiety disorders.

Treatment is very individualized. Each person is assessed and a program is designed to meet her/his individual needs. Treatment is provided by an outpatient treatment team that has been working together for over 15 years. Dr. Kim is a psychologist. Dan Reiff is a nutrition therapist and therapist.. Dr. Wallace Hodges, located in Seattle, addresses medical issues and psychotropic medication monitoring. As needed, a psychiatrist and dentist are involved as well. Some people see every member of the team, but most see one to three of us. Recovery from an eating disorder typically takes from one to five years.
